Walk for Rowan success!

Walk for Rowan success!

This month our student artists completed three days of sponsored walking covering an amazing 171 miles between them! This annual fundraiser took place at Midsummer Common and was to raise money for a trip to Southwold, on Wednesday 10 July, to celebrate 35 years of Rowan. It was a huge success with 50 student artists, volunteers and staff taking part.

‘We couldn’t believe our luck with the weather!’, comments Communications Ambassador Hetti Wood. ‘The student artists worked so hard to complete as many steps as possible over the hour each day and we finished the week with a celebratory BBQ at Rowan on Friday afternoon for everyone.’

The walk started in style with the Mayor of Cambridge, Gerri Bird, who was there to cheer on the participants: “Rowan is such a very special organisation which works so hard on behalf of its client group in order to provide a safe, creative and enriching environment. Promoting the power of art and how beneficial it can be to learning-disabled students. I was delighted to be in attendance to support this initiative which is celebrating 35 years!”

It is beach week and we are just £200 from hitting our target! You can still support us by visiting www.localgiving.org/Rowan or popping into Rowan this week (40 Humberstone Road, Cambridge, CB4 1JG) to make a donation.
