Movement for Wellbeing

Movement and Arts for Wellbeing is a new workshop run by Lima Rose and Lindsey McAuley, which alongside creative arts, gives the student artists the opportunity to bring movement to their bodies to support and nourish their physical and mental health. Lima and Lindsey offer a safe workshop space for the student artists to be both creative and expressive through the practice of embodied movement, play, mindfulness, expression and creative arts. Thank you to the National Lottery funding from Sport England for awarding us the grant to make this possible.
Movement for Wellbeing workshops includes chair yoga practice, movement to music, walking in nature, journaling, mindful and therapeutic drawing, visiting galleries, playing sports, and creating expressive artworks. These workshops are a combination of various movement activities, outings, and creative and therapeutic arts. The focus is on the wellbeing of the students at the core of all the work they do.
Lima is trained as a Chair Yoga instructor with Special Yoga, and as a Drawing and Talking practitioner. Lima is Mental Health First Aid trained and has taken Trauma Informed Practice training with Anna Kharaz. Lima is currently undertaking Yoga Training with Special Yoga for Adults with Autism and Disabilities.
Lindsey is the lead drama tutor at Rowan. Before joining Rowan in 2019, Lindsey worked for a sexual health charity delivering 1-2-1 and group sessions to people with learning difficulties covering subjects such as healthy relationships, safe sex, sexual health and consent. Lindsey has a degree in writing and film studies and is a qualified community arts teacher. She is also a professional educational skills role-player for communication skills training.
