This 7-week course explores a lesser-known printing technique: Collagraph is a versatile printmaking process that involves making a plate by cutting and peeling card, possibly with the addition of textured, recycled materials , found objects, or plant material. The plates are then inked and the image is transferred to paper. You will discover how to combine collagraph with other printing techniques to produce exciting, and sometimes surprising, artistic effects. At the end of the course, you’ll have the skills to continue creating at home by hand printing or by using the collagraph plates in mixed media collages.
This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.
All materials are included, but you are welcome to bring your own tools or images for inspiration.
Your tutor Sherry Rea is an artist and printmaker, working from her studio in Elsworth surrounded by inspiring fields, flowers, trees, birds and her chickens.
