Music

In music, student artists work together to share, explore and create music. Activities include singing, songwriting, recording, musical improvisation using a range of accessible instruments, world music sessions, ukulele group, drumming circles, Makaton ‘sing & sign’, and musical games to build listening, confidence and social interaction skills.

Sometimes the group works on an extended project based on a piece of music, e.g. Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals or Hans Zimmer’s Earth.

Students are encouraged to contribute their own ideas to sessions and to be creative in their music-making. The music workshops help our students to feel connected and to express themselves freely.
